Bridging the Digital Divide in a Post Pandemic Marin
Learn about the county-wide effort to build equitable digital infrastructure throughout all of Marin.

Digital Inclusion: Devices. Connectivity. Digital Literacy.
By 2028, Marin’s educational ecosystem, from cradle to career, will provide all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, zip code or financial circumstance, access to the devices, connectivity and digital literacy skills they need to successfully engage in online learning.
In partnership with Digital Marin, the Initiative will focus on the following strategies:
Devices: Increase student access to digital devices specifically dedicated to supporting their learning needs
Connectivity: Remove barriers to student connectivity at home and at school.
Digital Literacy: Increase digital literacy training for students, parents and teachers.

Not every student in Marin County has access to a computer, strong enough Internet connection, or family digital literacy to fully participate in online education, and the COVID-19 situation has made this an imperative.
Key Data Highlights
9% of households do not have a high speed Internet connection (21% of African American households in Marin City and 54% of Hispanic/Latino households in the Canal District).
Worse…
6% of Marin County Households do not even have a computer or portable device that a student could use to participate in online education (11% in Marin City and 20% in the Canal district).
