TK-6th Grade School Waivers to Return to In-person Instruction

September 2, 2020

While the county is on the State Watch List and schools are required to remain in a Distance Learning mode, the state is allowing County Public Health departments to work with schools to submit waiver applications to re-open K-6th grade instruction on a full-time, in-person basis.

Waiver applications must comply with the County’s 30-point coronavirus safety protocol structure in order to be passed along to the State for approval. So far, of the 15 school applicants that have applied for waivers to begin in-person instruction as early as September 8th, three are small public schools (Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy: ~110 TK-6 students, Laguna Elementary: ~14 TK-6 students, and Lincoln Elementary: ~8 TK-6 students).
